You can buy special utensils to do just about anything these days, and separating eggs is no exception. If you don't have (or want to buy) a fancy tool to do it, the classic method is simple—just crack the egg and transfer the yolk back and forth between the two halves. All you'll need is a couple of bowls and an empty plastic bottle. The suction of the bottle picks the yolk right out of the slimy white without breaking it. Plus, you get the added bonus of not having to worry about getting your hands messy, so keep this in mind the next time you're thinking of baking an angel food cake, because you can even do multiple yolks at the same time.
