Summer is a sensational time for barbecues of all sorts, and sausages always seem to be in the limelight. From backyards to ball parks and picnic tables, crafting the best barbecued sausage is an art well worth mastering.
We're on a forever-quest to find the best BBQ hacks out there. And we're certain that this hack in particular is winning on all levels. It allows you to create perfect sausage kebabs in the simplest way with the maximum flavor and with less flipping involved over a hot, sweaty grill.
Best of all, you don't have to waste time adding cut-up ingredients to skewers one by one—you just skewer them all together, cook, then slice into separate kebabs. All you need are a few ingredients, some skewers, a knife, and a can-do attitude.

Step 1: Assemble
You'll need sausages (you can use pork, poultry, or even vegetarian versions of the tubular treat), skewers, and green onions.

Step 2: Skewer
Place 3 bamboo skewers through all of your ingredients. Depending upon the length of the sausage, you may want to use 4 or even 5 skewers; just make sure that the skewers are evenly spaced and keep all your ingredients tightly together. That said, be a bit gentle with the green onions so as to not tear them. You don't want them falling into the fire, right?

Step 3: Grill
Throw your sausages on the grill until fully cooked, flipping as necessary. Since the sausage and veggies are all connected, that means you should only have to flip them once or twice, instead of flipping each individual kebab once or twice each like you normally would do.
Follow the timing instructions on the package of sausage to make sure you aren't serving undercooked meat, and make sure your scallions don't get too charred.

Step 4: Slice
Remove from the heat and let cool slightly. Using a sharp knife, cut between your skewers to create individual kebabs.

Step 5: Eat
You can cut off and discard the roots and burnt ends of the green onion for a prettier presentation. Or just push 'em to the side on your plate if you can't wait to dig in.
Want to change things up a bit on your future skewers? Try substituting or adding pineapple or melon chunks, peeled whole cloves of garlic, slices of bacon or prosciutto, or small, parboiled potatoes.
